Optical Processing
This project began with the fabrication of 38 cardboard triangles (both isosceles and equilateral) which were used to construct a geodesic dome.
The exterior of the dome is covered with large eyes made from found materials and photographs of everyday imagery—scenes from the news, moments in nature, and other visual symbols. These fragmented images create a chaotic surface that represent the current world, saturated with media and conflict. The inside on the other hand is refined; uniform strings attach to each eye, subtle triangles for light to filter in.
The dichotomy between exterior and interior is not just for aesthetic appeal, but rather for an experiential one. It invites the viewer to reflect on the psychological process that is required as we navigate a world oversaturated with informational assault and constant distraction.
