Tie It & Put a Pin In It

This project began with pieces of wire mesh that have been coated with newspaper, clay, and paint. Together, these organic structures resemble pieces of trash that have been piled onto one another. Within this dense mass, certain elements like pins and a wooden structure punctuate the surface at varying heights, ultimately drawing viewers attention away from the surface and rather to those extruding markers.

This piece explores how hierarchy emerges not only from imposed structures but through the juxtaposition of materials. It challenges the view of trash as a flat, undifferentiated mass by revealing an embedded system within its composition.
