Play With Me
The project was placed on display in the pop-up Melrose Botanical Garden Art Gallery.
This composition is built from 8 individually crafted "blocks," each designed to seamlessly interlock and reconfigure into numerous arrangements. Together, the blocks explore the idea of modularity in design.
Sculpted in clay, and finished in a refined white glaze, this piece carries a quiet sense of "play." The creation of these blocks brought with it the recall of early childhood memories: stacking wooden blocks and creating sculptures out of them. The tactile nature of the forms reinforces a nostalgic appeal.
With the size of each block being reduced, approximately 5" x 5," the focus shifts away from the individual blocks and into its collective potential.
