Self Portrait: The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly

This project highlights the juxtaposition between my identity & my fascination with how humans interact natural environment & the ways that design shapes those interactions I began this project through research, scrolling through Google Earth and the internet taking photos of specific locations that I felt drawn towards, & noting them in a spreadsheet that included both their coordinates and my subjective categorization as if they were “the good” (superbloom of poppy’s in California), “the bad” (Gold & Copper Mines in Australia), or “the ugly” (Power Plant air pollution in Pennsylvania). This page shows close-up images and a side view of the collage. Found objects like recyclables, plants in jars, and even strands of my red hair were woven into the composition, blurring the lines between the natural world and my own sense of self. The result reflects my fascination with the raw, imperfect beauty of our planet & the ways design can inspire change.
